Exciting Project: Lingoo Supports Erasmobility

Last year we shared with you the exciting news that Lingoo had been invited to support part of the EU-funded Erasmus+ programme, the Erasmobility project. We’d now love to go over some more details on the objectives of the project and what our role will be.

What is Erasmobility?

Erasmobility is a free online platform facilitating work placements for students and teachers.

It is available for colleges and vocational training providers both in the European Union and in countries who are participating in the Erasmus+ programme. Through the platform, education centers are connected and communication regarding work experience exchanges facilitated.

How Does It Work?

Work placements abroad enrich students, not only professionally, but also on a personal level. Not only do students have the opportunity to learn skills that aren’t taught in their home country, they are also able to develop their independence and self-sufficiency.

The quality of placements is guaranteed through reciprocity. This is because each centre endeavours to provide the same quality of experience for foreign students as it wants its own students to experience abroad.

Students doing the same training in the same country are also connected so they can share experiences and feel further supported.

Support is also provided through the organisation of suitable accommodation for work placement students in the host country.

What is Lingoo’s role?

Part of the Erasmobility project plan is to develop a network of homestay families across Europe to accommodate exchange students. Lingoo will be offering technical and management support in this area of the project.

Specifically, Lingoo will be participating within what is called a Ka 2 EU project group. This is a group of colleges currently working within the Erasmus+ program offering similar services.

Which countries are involved?

Current participating educational centres are based in Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Romania, Wales and Ireland.

What are the objectives of the project?

Currently many students rent private accommodation, missing out on valuable opportunities to further experience the culture of their host country. A key objective of the project is therefore to encourage Erasmobility students to use host family accommodation more often.

A secondary objective is to create and develop plans to transform the current Erasmobility website into a fully functioning Erasmus host family website. This objective would be expanded through a new, EU funded project.

The current project number is: 2019-1-ES01-KA202-063924.
