If you are thinking about an English language homestay for your child but you are not sure if they are ready to go all the way to the UK, you might be pleasantly surprised to hear that an equally authentic homestay experience could be much closer to home. Meet the Jones family, a welcoming and experienced host family of four, who are English, but living in the South West of France. We met up with Rebecca, Mark, Milly (13) and Lola (10), to find out more.

Rebecca... tell us, how does an English family end up living in France?

Here at Lingoo we are passionate about making immersive language learning an experience that everyone can enjoy. Because of this we have options whereby the whole family can travel to a new country and stay together with a host family or teacher.

This option is particularly popular for families with young children, families who are considering a move abroad and want to ‘try before they buy’, or simply families who enjoy undertaking new challenges and exciting adventures together.

How Does It Work?

At Lingoo, we understand that learning a second language can be difficult for some – especially when there are initial factors in your way, such as expenses / where to look for the perfect language exchange partner. With our undying passion for languages and after taking these above points into consideration, it became clear to us what we needed to do – we set out to create a translatable, easy to navigate and enticing platform, for people to use across the globe.

If you were to sit down and write a wish-list of characteristics you were looking for in a French language homestay host, we’re guessing that the Grigoriou-Gratton family, who have welcomed many Lingoo guests over the last few years, would tick every single one of your boxes.

We recently joined the family for dinner at their lovely home in downtown Bordeaux (incidentally Lonely Planet’s number one city to visit in 2017) to find out what makes them great hosts for young people seeking a language exchange or homestay experience.

Bienvenue! Meet the Family
