It can be daunting planning a year abroad during your degree. Ideally, before you commit to a whole year, you would know what it is like living in your country of choice and have at least a working knowledge of the local language. But that isn’t always the case; which is a shame because you could, in essence, ‘try before you buy’ with a short Lingoo break.

The opportunity comes in the shape of French students under the age of 18 who are learning English. Many are willing to pay to stay in the home of a native English speaker to improve their language skills intensively.
Host families charge for food and accommodation. Optional extras, such as tuition, day trips and sports activities, are priced accordingly. Qualified English teachers charge a premium for structured lessons.
