A quarter of the population of Canada are French Canadians and the majority live in the province of Québec. There are smaller French Canadian communities nearby, in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Blending Canadian Aboriginal roots with a European feel, French Canadian culture is distinctly different. Furthermore, having a unique linguistic identity, French speaking Québec is described a country within a country. The bustling southern cities of Montréal and Québec City are cosmopolitan, playful and sophisticated. Alongside the St Lawrence River, Tadoussac is a popular whale watching spot. Head further north and you are met with a sparsely populated arctic tundra of deserted beaches and ravaged rockscape. Large native wildlife such as moose, caribou, wolverine and bears roam here. Traditional classical and jazz music is imbued with cultural dancing. In this part of the world the weather is extreme and ice hockey is the sport of choice followed by cross country skiing.

Finding the right host is important. We help you choose who you stay with based on location, lifestyle, interests (and even diet or religion). Our aim is to help you find a Canadian language partner so right for you that, through the learning experience, you might easily become friends.
