Become an English Homestay Teacher
Becoming an English Homestay Teacher is like running a home business. Unlike teaching at a conventional school, you have total control. You decide who stays in your home, when they stay and for how long.
You have contact with students before you accept a booking so you can get to know each other first, and you can decide whether to teach children, teenagers or adults.
You also set your own prices and decide what social activities you can offer, from sightseeing trips to hang gliding, or simply walking the dog. Your task is to help your students build confidence and fluency in a structured learning environment. And at the same time, you will be sharing your home life with students so that they feel like a family member and can practise their English in day-to-day family situations.
Start by creating a detailed personal profile on Lingoo where you can also read lots of advice from other EFL teachers. Once your profile is approved, your profile will go live on our site so students can start contacting you. After initial contact, you get to know each other and start discussing the details of the stay. When everything is agreed, you accept your first booking.
Joining Lingoo is free. Lingoo only takes 15% of the income you earn through your hosting activity - this percentage is calculated on accommodation, and language lessons included automatically for Teachers’ stays.
